About Us
Our history goes back to the second half of the 20th Century. Already in the 1950s, several people from the Christian Reformed Church in North America and from other Reformed communities who had interest in the publishing of books and materials in Spanish, began to realize their dreams by publishing books, tracts, and materials translated from English. Some of these groups established publishing ministries that in time merged with Libros Desafío. The various editorial branches of our history, The Evangelical Literature League (TELL); Subcomisión de Literatura Cristiana (SLC); Comisión Internacional de Teología y Educación (CITE); the Spanish line of William B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, Nueva Creación; and the Spanish line of Friendship Ministries, Amistad; are now a single publishing block under Libros Desafío. The new challenges that the 21st Century brings and the rapid changes around the world encourage us to continue with this long Christian publishing tradition.
Our mission is to serve church and society by producing high-quality, relevant, thought-provoking, creative, and life-changing Reformed literature. We trust that God, by His Holy Spirit, may continue to give us the vision, encouragement, and commitment to continue with our firm literary vocation to be followers of Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all and in all.
