En otras palabras, no son instituciones distintivamente «cristianas»; no se inician con Cristo ni se limitan al ámbito de la iglesia. Son más bien instituciones «humanas» que se desarrollan en constante interacción con el momento histórico. Sin embargo, el matrimonio y la familia cristiana alcanzan un significado y un valor muy elevado cuando, redimidos por Cristo, pasan a pertenecer a la nueva creación y a ser agentes del Reino de Dios en la tierra. Los diez capítulos incluidos en este libro exploran lo que esto significa, con miras a iluminar la acción pastoral y estimular al pueblo de Dios a poner en práctica la enseñanza bíblica sobre el matrimonio y la familia. La mayoría de los trabajos son contribuciones de autores latinoamericanos.
Marriage and family find their origin in God himself. They belong to the order of creation. In other words, they are not distinctively "Christian" institutions; they do not start with Christ, nor do they limit themselves to the scope of the church. They are, rather, "human" institutions that are in constant interaction with their historical context. Nevertheless, Christian marriage and family reach a very high meaning and value when, redeemed by Christ, they become part of the new creation and agents of the Kingdom of God on earth. The ten chapters of this book explore this topic with an eye to enlightening pastorals and to stimulating the people of God to practice the biblical teachings on marriage and family. Most of the essays were written by Latin American authors.
